The Eucharist is at the heart of the community life. The Eucharistic Banquet is a sign of unity and bond of charity. Through it, the community is united in one body and one spirit.

Each community represents, in a special way, the Church at prayer and exercises its ministry of prayer on behalf of both the entire Mystical Body of Christ and the local Church. A community celebrating the Liturgy of the Hours perseveres in prayer with Mary, the Mother of Jesus.

St. Teresa made prayer the foundation of the life of her daughters and their primary activity. For this reason, the Church asks all Teresian monasteries to enter into the mystery of contemplative prayer and to offer an exemplary witness to it among God's People. The Carmelite Nun imitates the life of Christ contemplating on the mountain. She thereby gives witness in the Church to a life of unceasing prayer

The day is made up of personal and liturgical prayer. Silence and solitude help us create an atmosphere for our prayer life so that we may listen attentively to the voice of Christ.

St. Teresa longed to contribute to the building up of the Body of Christ. She felt that the best way to do this was by prayer and living according to the Gospel. Prayer and immolation would be the Nuns' service to the Church. It was for this that the Lord had brought them to Carmel. United with Christ, the Nuns offer themselves and their prayers for the People of God.

Carmel is God's garden. Just as seeds need rich soil and water to grow so too must the seed of prayer be nourished within us.  Carmel is 'rich' in spiritual soil and living water through the teaching given us by Saints Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross.  Their spiritual writings have nourished not only Carmelites but countless individuals throughout the past four centuries and for this reason they are also Doctors of the Church.  More recently St.Therese of Lisieux has joined their ranks with her "Little Way.'   We strive to make our grounds and our souls a beautiful place for God.
